LGBTQ+ Rights and Protections

True equality means that every person has the right to live authentically, love freely, and thrive without fear of discrimination, harassment, or violence. We are witnessing an unprecedented and terrifying wave of state-sponsored bigotry targeting the LGBTQ+ community, particularly transgender youth. Tram is committed to standing as an ally and a fierce defender of the LGBTQ+ community, ensuring that federal law provides absolute, unshakeable protections for all Americans.

In Congress, Tram will work to:

• Pass the federal Equality Act to explicitly add sexual orientation and gender identity to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, banning discrimination in housing, employment, public accommodations, and education nationwide,

• Protect access to gender-affirming care and ensure trans individuals have accurate, accessible identification documents,

• Enact a total federal ban on conversion therapy, outlawing the fraudulent and deeply harmful practice,

• Increase federal funding for LGBTQ+ youth homelessness prevention, mental health resources, and crisis intervention services, and

• Fully fund federal hate crime investigations and support community-led safety initiatives.
